Introduction

Moody is our open-source solution for DIY ambient light experiences in your home cinema setup. By using Onshape and a parametric design, we address the challenge that every TV setup is unique, ensuring that your Moody build will seamlessly blend into your living room.

Moody is a 3D-printable lamp design that is positioned to the left and right of your TV screen or monitor. It mimics the colors at the edges of the screen, similar to any ambient light setup, creating a backlighting effect on the wall. Unique to our design, it also focuses a narrow beam of light towards you. The software also allows you to design lamps yourself and to put them at the top or bottom of your screen, or just somewhere in the room!

This manual is designed to guide you through every step of building and setting up your own Moody. At the end of this manual, you will be able to:

Who are we?

We are three friends who love inventing and prototyping in our free time. Over the years, we’ve built and experimented with various projects purely for our own enjoyment. Recently, we decided to share one of our creations—Shroomy—by making a YouTube video about it.
